Schema Therapy

Schema therapy is an integrated approach that combines proven therapy techniques from different psychotherapy approaches in one concept. It is one of the so-called third wave of cognitive-behavioral therapies.

The therapy process developed by Jeffrey Young aims to identify dysfunctional life patterns – also known as life traps – and to understand them as scars of previous injuries and to actively induce change. The current problem in therapy therefore has the same importance as its formation in childhood and adolescence.

The overall goal of this therapy is to improve your understanding of what needs have not been fulfilled in your childhood, what pathological patterns and modes have developed from this, how they are currently hindering you and causing issues. Schema therapy can help you to better recognize and adequately satisfy your actual needs in the present.
