Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy includes a large number of different specific techniques and treatment measures. These different measures are used individually or together in therapy, depending on the type of problem in question.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a scientifically founded psychotherapy. Cognitive means that in addition to the visible, external behavior, the invisible, inner behavior, i.e. cognitions (thoughts, evaluations, attitudes, interpretations) as well as emotions, are included and analyzed in the therapy. It is further supposed that our human behavior, our ways of thinking and feelings as well as the corresponding physical reactions are to a large extent learned and therefore can also be changed.

The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

  • is problem-oriented: The treatment is based on your currently existing problem. The therapeutic procedure is tailored as closely as possible to you and your respective disorder. In addition, we are working on increasing your general problem-solving capability.
  • is goal-oriented: Together we establish common therapeutic goals at the beginning, which are the basis of further action.
  • is change-oriented: Your active involvement is an integral part of the therapy, such as trying out new behaviors, ways of thinking and experiences. The transfer of strategies learned in therapy (problem-solving skills) into everyday life is of central importance.
  • is transparent: You will be informed during the therapy on procedure, diagnosis and development etc. and be given a plausible explanatory model. You will not be deprived of any information, but rather a mutual understanding of the problem is sought.
  • is help for self-help: through the above-mentioned procedures, you learn to take things back into your own hands and to analyse and manage future problems independently.
